A Cappella Choir Finishes 3rd at ISSMA Organizational Contest

The A Cappella choir competed at ISSMA Organizational State Finals this past Saturday, May 10, at Pike High School in Indianapolis. The choir performed three songs: Chariots by Peter Louis van Dijk, O Magnum Mysterium by Morten Lauridsen and John the Revelator by Peter Caldwell and Sean Ivory. They competed among the top 16 choirs in the state and received 3rd place.

This year Concordia was the smallest school and the only Christian school to compete in the finals. Because there are no divisions based on school size, our choir competed against schools up to 7 times larger than Concordia. A Cappella appeared at state finals 14 times between 1985 and 1999. In this century, the choir has appeared at state finals only three times, one of which being last year when they received 10th place.

Congratulations, choir members, on this outstanding achievement!

ISSMA Organizational Contest

CLHS A Cappella Choir participated in the ISSMA Organizational State Qualifying Competition on Saturday, May 3rd at Ben Davis in Indianapolis. The concentrated effort put forth on these pieces stretched students' ability to focus and deepened their sense of musicality. ISSMA judges expect performing groups to be well prepared, poised, and professional. The choir received a gold rating for their performance of three prepared pieces and a single piece the group read on site. A Capella will go to State Choir Finals. They will perform at Pike High School at 7:02 p.m. on Saturday, May 10th.
